Posing Inspiration for Newborn Photos

Newborn Photographers (or aspiring newborn photographers)! We filmed the behind the scenes of this in home lifestyle newborn session for my newborn photography course, coming soon! You can get on the waitlist here!

Everett was one month old at the time of this newborn session. I’m not a newborn photographer that is strict on the timeframe that the photos must be done in. I’ve had babies as old as 3 months old for newborn photos. It’s important to stay flexible and not assume that every newborn session will me the same. For example, older newborns may not do as well with swaddles. Sometimes they are just more awake, stronger, and they like to break out of my newborn wraps. No big deal! I bring lots of outfits for newborns in addition to swaddles.

Surprisingly, even with Everett already being one month old (and born at almost 9 pounds!), he did great with the swaddle! I used a plain white one, a light blue one to match mama’s dress, and a lacy white one. I also used a little white outfit that I brought.

I can’t wait for you to watch me photograph this session as part of my new newborn photography course. In the meantime, you can use these photos as posing inspiration for your own newborn sessions!

If you’re a mama or a mama to be (or a daddy), you can learn more about my newborn photo and video sessions here!
