Travelers Rest In Home Newborn Photographer

There is something so special about photographing a brand new baby in the place where her family’s everyday memories are already beginning. Baby Charley’s newborn session took place right at home in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, and her family’s beautiful home gave us so many sweet spaces to use throughout the morning.

An In Home Newborn Session in Travelers Rest, SC

We started Charley’s session in her nursery, which was such a beautiful space for newborn photos. The soft green floral wallpaper, antique-inspired brass crib, and warm neutral details gave the room so much personality without distracting from the most important part of the photos: Charley and her parents.

We photographed Charley both swaddled and unswaddled, giving her family plenty of variety in their final gallery. For some of the photos, she was wrapped in a soft neutral swaddle with a tiny pink bow. Later, we changed her into the sweetest dusty pink outfit and floral headband.

Those little outfit changes are one of my favorite ways to add variety to an in home newborn session while still keeping everything simple and timeless.

Lifestyle Newborn Photos in the Master Bedroom

Next, we moved into the master bedroom for some relaxed family photos.

The beautiful green wall, cream upholstered bed, and neutral bedding created the perfect backdrop for these images. We took photos of Charley with both of her parents, along with plenty of individual photos of Charley and her mama.

I especially love using the master bedroom during newborn sessions because it gives us space for both traditional portraits and those softer, more candid moments. Some of my favorite images from this session are the ones of Charley lying beside her mom on the bed and being snuggled between both of her parents.

These are the kinds of photographs that document just how tiny your baby once was.

Including Everyday Spaces in Your Newborn Photos

We also spent a little time in the family’s kitchen.

The kitchen might not be the first place you imagine when you think about newborn photos, but that is part of what makes in home sessions so fun. If a room has beautiful light and feels meaningful to your family, we can use it.

Charley’s mama held her near the kitchen island while she wore her little pink outfit, giving us another completely different look without ever leaving their home.

This is one reason I never expect your entire house to be “photo ready.” Before and during your session, I simply look for the rooms with the best combination of natural light, space, and beautiful backgrounds. Sometimes we use the nursery and master bedroom. Other times the living room, kitchen, hallway, or even a small corner near a window ends up being perfect.
